The Defence Accounts Department, one of the oldest Departments of the Government of India, celebrated its Annual Day today at the CENTRAD, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi. Hon´ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh was the Chief Guest. The Chief of Army Staff General Manoj PandePVSM AVSM VSM ADC, Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar IAS, Financial Advisor (Defence Services) Ms. Rasika Chaube IDAS also attended the event along with other senior officials of the Government of India.

On this occasion, Hon´ble Raksha Mantri launched several Digital initiatives of the defence accounts department which included SPARSH mobile app, International Air ticket booking module in Defence Travel System, DARPAN, Defence Civilian Pay system, Defence Accounts HR management System and Agniveer Pay System.

The Department is responsible for financial advice, payments, accounting and internal audit for the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and other Defence related organisations, such as DRDO, Coast Guard et al and traces its roots to the initiation of the Military Pay Master in 1747.

As part of the Annual Day celebrations, an exhibition presenting this Department´s rich history was witnessed by the Raksha Mantri. On display were relics and photographs of the Department, portraying its cultural heritage and contribution which were appreciated by the Hon´ble Raksha Mantri.

The Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence 2022 were also conferred upon the three teams for exhibiting exemplary initiative in implementing key department programmes. The Awardees for the year 2022 were:
